The process
- Screening: role intro, background, motivation (show curiosity for the mission).
- Technical skills interview: deep-dive on the role’s skills, with a case study and situational questions.
- Alaner fit (~45m, a founder or senior Alaner): motivation, mission-driven mindset, ways of working, communication.
- Checkpoint (feedback + final questions) → reference call.
- Alan Day (half/full day): for SWEs, feature design + past-project interview; lunch + debrief. Decision within 48 working hours.
What they ask
- Technical: case study / situational questions on the role’s skills.
- Feature design: how you’d implement a new feature (at Alan Day).
- Past-project: your choices, tradeoffs, impact on a project you owned.
How they behave
They assess technical skills, mission-driven mindset, communication, ownership. They ask you to raise clarifying questions, show learning ability, and give data-backed answers. Very written/async culture. Salary is non-negotiable once the level is set.
How to prepare
